Un Volcan Numerique  17 - 27 June 2009

Several works developed at the iCinema Centre for Interactive Cinema Research have been selected for inclusion in the exhibition Un Volcan Numerique in Le Havre, France. These include: the ARC funded project T_Visionarium, by Neil Brown, Dennis Del Favero, Matthew McGinity, Jeffrey Shaw and Peter Weibel; Double District, a collaborative project between Volker Kuchelmister, Suburo Teshigawara of the KARAS dance company and Richard Castelli of EPIDEMIC; and Jean Michele Bruyère’s work La Dispersion du Fils, realised as part of an iCinema Visiting Fellowship, and inspired by iCinema’s unique immersive and interactive environment, AVIE. This work was developed in collaboration with Matthew McGinity, iCinema’s lead software engineer. The exhibition also showcases work by iCinema director and co-founder Jeffrey Shaw, including The Golden Calf and his and Sarah Kenderdine’s collaborative work UNMAKEABLE LOVE.

Seconde Nature  7 July - 1 August 2009

The Seconde Nature exhibition in Aix-en-Provence, France will include iCinema’s ARC funded project T_Visionarium, by Neil Brown, Dennis Del Favero, Matthew McGinity, Jeffrey Shaw and Peter Weibel, a work which provides immersive navigation of a large scale database of visual information. The exhibition, utilising iCinema’s immersive environment AVIE, will also include Jean Michele Bruyère’s La Dispersion du Fils, a work realised as part of a visiting Fellowship at the Centre. Bruyère’s work, which was inspired by the potential uses of iCinema technology, involves an interdisciplinary collaboration, lead by iCinema’s lead software engineer Matthew McGinity. This work, along with T_Visionarium, will showcase not only the experimental research conducted at the Centre, but also the development of innovative, immersive and mixed reality technologies.
